How to lead a child to Christ

As a Christian parent, one of the ultimate goal is leading our children to Christ. For every single thing we do, to teach them about God, right from their time of birth, one of our key goals should be their salvation.

My daughter is three years old and I already began to pray about the proper timing for us to lead her to Christ. I kind of feel that she understands a lot of things, much more than her age and so getting her saved might be earlier than we think.

During the week, I checked a number of materials online, on how to lead a child to Christ, and then I found the wordless book. I have seen it in the past, but it never appealed to me the way it did now. I guess it's because I am really close to a phase of life where I would be needing it.

The wordless book is a  Christian evangelistic book, first invented by Charles Haddon Spurgeon in 1866, and since then has been used all over the world as a tool for children evangelism.

The wordless book, as the name implies is a book of colours, and without words. The book is such that colours are being used to communicate an important Bible truth about God's plan for our salvation.

The colour of the pages of the wordless book are: Black, Red, White, Gold and Green.

Here's an explanation of each page:

Black page represents sin.

Wordless book

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 3:23 NKJV

everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence.

Romans 3:23 GNB

The purpose of this page is to explain to the child that he or she was born a sinner. You can also tell the child who a sinner is and what it means to sin. Also tell the child that a sinner cannot have a relationship with God.

Red page represents the Blood of Jesus.

Wordless book

Indeed, according to the Law almost everything is purified by blood, and sins are forgiven only if blood is poured out.

Hebrews 9:22 GNB

Here, you will let the child know that God wants everyone to have a relationship with him, and so He sent his son Jesus to die, shed his blood and clean us from our sins.

White page represents pure

Wordless book

If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9 GNB

This means that by believing in Jesus, all their sins are forgiven and then they will have a relationship with God.

Gold page represents Heaven.

Wordless book

We, however, are citizens of heaven, and we eagerly wait for our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from heaven.

Philippians 3:20 GNB

I love this a lot. It says that after believing in Jesus, we become citizens of heaven. A curious child may ask why gold. At this point, you describe what heaven looks like.

The last page is green which represents growth.

Wordless book

But continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, now and for ever! Amen.

2 Peter 3:18 GNB

This is to let them know that after believing in Jesus, there's need for them to grow in Him and to bring others to know Him.

So, after reading a lot about the wordless book, I decided to make my wordless book for my daughter and I also included two additional pages, with colours that I think are important for her and other children to know.

The colours are purple and blue.

Purple page represents Dominion

Wordless book

But you are the chosen race, the King's priests, the holy nation, God's own people, chosen to proclaim the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into his own marvellous light.

1 Peter 2:9 GNB

The reason why I added this colour is that I want my children to know that our stay on Earth is not just to grow in our walk with God and our relationship with Christ. It's also to rule and have Dominion over the earth. It is to shine as light and proclaim God's praises wherever He places us.

Blue page represents the Appearing of Jesus in the sky.

as we wait for the blessed Day we hope for, when the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ will appear.

Wordless book
Titus 2:13 GNB

Yaay, I added this also because I feel it's really important for my child to know that one day Jesus will appear in the sky to take all those who believe in him to heaven, where we really belong.

Discovering this wordless book and modifying it was really an amazing journey for me. And Guess what, after making my wordless book, I explained everything to my daughter and I believe that she understood.

I am going to continue to use it to explain salvation to her, while trusting the Holy Spirit for the proper timing to lead her to Christ.

I have attached the link to download the wordless book freely.

Please let me know in the comments section if you have any feedback, contribution, addition, comments etc.

You can also check out some of my amazing children resource here.

My prayers are with you, in this journey called motherhood.

I love you.
